WEBINAR: Disability and Age Inclusion in Humanitarian Response

September 16, 2020

Are you a senior leader of an INGO or humanitarian or development agency/program in Timor-Leste?
Does your organization work on humanitarian response?
Do you think inclusion in humanitarian response is important but are not quite sure how to best support its implementation in your organization’s response work?
If yes, then this webinar is for you

LEARNING FROM GOOD PRACTICE ON DISABILITY AND AGE INCLUSION IN HUMANITARIAN RESPONSE: HOW CAN YOU SUPPORT DISABILITY AND AGE INCLUSION IN YOUR HUMANITARIAN WORK IN TIMOR-LESTE?

WEBINAR ON THE 29th SEPTEMBER 2020

Context
The COVID-19 crisis has provided an opportunity to test disability inclusion in humanitarian action in Timor-Leste with clear examples of Organisation of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs) and humanitarian actors response being inclusive. But there is still limited understanding of standards related to inclusion in humanitarian action, how to do it in practice, and a need for increasing awareness and commitment from humanitarian actors.

To increase people’s awareness of the Humanitarian Inclusion Standards (HIS) in Timor-Leste, Oxfam, Ra’es Hadomi Timor-Oan (RHTO) and Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB) Indonesia and the Philippines has organised webinars on the implementation of HIS in local response. So far there have been webinairs for OPDs and Timorese disaster actors but it is recognized that to be successful in integrating inclusion into an organization’s humanitarian response that there must be leadership, ownership and understanding from the leadership of the organization. To support this a webinar is being held specifically for INGO and International Humanitarian and Development Partners leadership in Timor-Leste in English.
